Not Just a Fridge Anymore!

French fridge freezer web

Not Just a Fridge Anymore !

binäre optionen test kauf Once upon a time the fridge was a small box in the corner of your kitchen. It has now become a focal point of a new kitchen design, being packed with high-tech features to preserve the natural flavour and nutrients of your food.

There are now many different designs to choose from, both free standing and integrated versions.

American style or side by side models offer plenty of storage for a modern family with the addition of integral ice and water dispensers.

A current trend is towards French door style models which have double doors to the fridge part and two pull-out freezer drawers below.

For the more discerning client, integral wine cooling can be incorporated into models.

Think hard about the needs of your family and how you cook. If you use plenty of fresh ingredients then look for a larger capacity of fridge to freezer 70/30 or 60/40 split. If you cook in advance to freeze a lot of meals then 50/50 would be better for you.

Fridge interiors have also been improved and redesigned to optimise on space and ensure you can be more organised to store things.

Since July 2012 all new models must have a rating of A+ and above. To give you an indication of how efficient each model can be remember an A+++ appliance uses 50% less energy to run than a A+ model saving you money on your electric bills.

Newer models have led illumination internally, fast freeze and fast cool options and many come with integral anti-bacterial protection inside. Additional features can include a ‘holiday’ option where the fridge section can be switched off whilst you are away but leaving the freezer running. Compartments have different temperatures so cheese, veg and deli products can be kept at a more optimum temperature preserving taste, colour and nutritional value.

A must have is frost free as this has always been a chore to do in the past and will save you valuable time and effort.

Last but not least remember colour - many models now come in a stunning array of colours to add a splash of individuality to your kitchen design!

All Inclusive Bathroom Design

DESIGN DOUBLE WALK IN 1web

All Inclusive Bathroom Design

wykres kursu walut forex When considering a new bathroom it is very easy to concentrate on the here and now

However, research shows that the number of people who live to be over 85 is rising from 1.4 million to 3.5 million within the next 25 years, which is why we need to design bathrooms for the needs of the whole family in the future.

Historically accessible products had little to get excited about, leading to a bathroom with more in common with a local hospital than the boutique hotel look we all like.  However, over the last few years this has changed dramatically, making these products much more designer led and appealing in terms of both aesthetics and desirability.

Many products, including low level or flush fitting shower trays, larger walk-in or even walk-through shower enclosures, digitally operated showers and comfort height toilets, are becoming standard products in a lot of newly designed bathrooms.  This means a safer environment for young and old alike using the room.

Precise thermostatically controlled showers with no fiddly levers and remote controlled buttons, which can be placed at a convenient height for the user, also aid showering.

If a bath is on the wish list, add hydro massage, moulded head rests and integral seats - all ensure relaxing bathing.

Sleek handrails can be incorporated within the design providing support for safety along with non-slip shower trays to ensure a safer environment.

All of these products and many more can be discussed with your bathroom designer to ensure your new bathroom is designed for the future and suitable for multi-generational living, so that includes the grandchildren too!

top option trading How best to use shelving in an open plan kitchen

Hidden storage is all very well for foodstuffs and the battered cookware that you would prefer to keep out of sight but if you want to show off your favourite crockery or glasses, then open shelving is a definite must to incorporate into your design.

With the current trend towards living kitchens, open shelving is perfect for bridging the area between functioning kitchen space and the softer living area.

Even something as simple as plain white china can look stunning, especially if it sits alongside a feature coloured wall. You can use any of your favourite things, vintage china, teapots, mugs, serving platters, whatever you treasure and don’t want to hide away.  Keeping things to hand also has other benefits, apart from how it looks. As open plan living creates a social space for family and friends to use, open shelving allows everyone to see where things are and help with laying the table etc. This helps to create a relaxed friendly atmosphere and lessens your chores!

The common interior design rule of think in three’s comes into force. Don’t forget to vary heights and sizes.  See if you can be brave with your designer and allow us free reign to be less symmetrical. Tell us your most loved pieces that you want to show off so we can design the space accordingly.

For those of you worried about dusting, think about adding clear glass doors which will still allow the colour and style to shine through!

We would love to hear what it is you would like to display, call in and talk to us soon.

AEG Workshop at Modern Homes

What a great time we had at our AEG workshop last week.

We baked and tasted a host of gorgeous recipes and learnt lots of new tips.  These included how to make perfect cheese on toast in the oven, rather than the grill - the bread is toasted on both sides at the same time - how clever is that!

We marvelled at how you could bake a moist and yummy Date and Walnut cake in the combination microwave, just 35 minutes from start to finish and the Bakewell Tarts were superb.

With Christmas coming, we can’t wait to play host to the AEG home economists again and are looking forward to their combination microwave Christmas cake.

Two items that stood out for me were the induction wok that has a proper curved base and unique support for a perfect stir fry and the Plancha Grill for impeccable griddling of food.

If you want to be inspired and see just how much fun cooking can be with AEG appliances then call into the showroom soon - we can always whip up a batch of scones …

Case Studies - Mrs F

Mrs F

A Lighter Brighter Kitchen

It’s always lovely when a client describes their designer as ‘having a good eye’ - so when Mrs F from Leamington said this and let us know how pleased she was with her kitchen, we were delighted.

Before

Img 0013

It was important for Mrs F that we retained the ‘feel’ of her old kitchen, and didn’t move too much around. She was familiar with the layout, but wanted to update the look with attractive worktops, a built-in double oven and a separate hob. This began with a visit to our showrooms, where we discussed her and her husband’s ideas, and made suggestions to enhance them.

The couple selected a lighter finish than previously, and storage space to include a mixture of traditional, carousel and pull-out tall units. Once this had been decided, work began, starting first with widening the chimney breast, in order to accommodate a new cooker hood to comply with EU regulations.

Once the chimney breast alcove had been widened, the next stage was plastering, then fitting of the units and laying of the floor.

FAUNDEZ 4

“The process was fairly seamless,” says Mrs F. “Tina made some great design suggestions, including installing taller furniture so as to be in proportion with the high ceiling. This gave the kitchen a sense of elegance that had been lacking. In terms of practicality, it all works well too. The work was very well co-ordinated, the standard of workmanship was excellent, and we’re delighted with the results. The kitchen looks much more spacious and brighter, and I still know where everything is!”
