Andrews

A Bathroom and Kitchen Transformation

When Mrs Andrews in Leamington bought her current home, it had previously been a rental property. To this end, the kitchen and bathroom were purely functional, the furniture was uninspiring and there was little design flair in the rooms.

Over a couple of years, Mrs Andrews put character and style back into the property, culminating in her latest projects – the kitchen and bathroom, all courtesy of Modern Homes..

She was thrilled, and then suddenly, it was my turn again. They were every bit as wonderful as I remember.”

The work began with the initial planning and design, with Tina from Modern Homes building and improving on the ideas already in place. Work was then booked in, with a timescale for completion of three weeks.

In the bathroom, the bath was re-sited onto the smaller wall, to free up ‘dead’ space and allow for the installation of new storage cupboards and some gorgeous Mereway bathroom furniture.  This was finished off with Karndean flooring.

The kitchen is a galley kitchen – traditionally hard to design due to space restrictions, but Modern Homes took it all in their stride. The old units were ripped out, and replaced with smart new ones, including angled corner units to add a design element and maximise the light. It also now benefits from an induction hob and chimney extractor, and a fantastic Neff oven with slideaway door (just like the ones on The Great British Bake Off). To complete the stylish look, there are coffee-coloured brick tiles (complete with matching grout), and a Karndean ‘York Stone’ effect floor, which runs through into the hall and porch to create a feeling of space and flow.

Hand Painted Kitchens

 Restoration cadet grey anthracite mulberry

http://revedecabane.com/?ower=forex-robot&3c8=8f forex robot Why Choose a Hand Painted Kitchen?

legitimate binary options signals A finely hand-crafted British kitchen with painted doors is a beautiful item to live with.

Whilst it may be true that it is not as hard wearing as possibly a laminate door, the advantages are you can easily touch up the paintwork and when you are ready for a change, you can transform your kitchen by repainting it in a completely different colour.

As such a painted kitchen has a versatility and longevity that you cannot find in any other style of kitchen.

Whilst cream has been and will continue to be a popular colour to use, we are currently seeing a huge shift towards a classic grey palette, in particular using more than one shade of grey. The beauty of a base like grey is that you can add a splash of a bolder colour to create a feature, a wall or an island for example, adding interest to the design.

An English Revival kitchen can be painted in a range of colour palettes or supplied ready to paint in your chosen colour scheme. Earth tones, greens, greys and blues are the core colour choices, with tonal colours complementing and contrasting beautifully.  Bookcases and other furniture pieces can by individualised by selecting a different colour for the inside cabinet to that of the exterior, offering unlimited opportunities to create a bespoke piece that is perfect for every room.

Our English Revival range of framed kitchens are hand built and hand finished in Birmingham where traditional methods of craftsmanship are used to create a finish of the highest standard.  Attention to detail at every stage ensures that quality is maintained.

Traditional shaker styling or a more contemporary Modern Classic style is available ensuring this can be a range to suit all styles. Elegant and vintage or minimalist and contemporary, the collection extends furniture choice beyond the normal boundaries to truly reflect the modern living kitchen ethos.

Add into the mix the availability of colour matched range cookers from British manufacturer Britannia and your dream kitchen can be achieved using British craftsmanship at its best.

A Grand Time at Grand Designs

 Kitchen Guru in Action

opzioni binarie vincenti A Grand Time at Grand Designs

opzioni binarie grafici a candela Grand Designs has always been one of my favourite exhibitions and this year it was better than ever.

I enjoyed the buzz and the excitement and even had the chance to see some of the sexy new products on display.    Some gorgeous new fridges from Smeg, fabulous lighting, lovely outdoor illuminated trees and even an Origami car made from paper!

This year I was one of the experts in the Miele kitchen advice centre and this was exhausting but rewarding.  I was booked solid for the four days, with just 30 minutes for each visitor.  I met some lovely people from all over the country, most with plans for a self-build and kitchen extension rather than clients just wanting a new kitchen without room alterations or any structural work.

Nearly all clients wanted to design new open plan living/ dining kitchens but there was a mix of both contemporary and traditional designs.

Whilst 30 minute is not really long enough it was great to have the opportunity to offer advice as it would seem that even in today's modern age of researching on the internet, there is nothing to beat face to face interaction with a designer.

I am afraid to say that it was frustrating to be presented with so many plans that are clearly not going to work, even on a basic level and think it is disgraceful that this level of incompetence is so readily available, especially as these can be very expensive mistakes to rectify.

I can’t wait to do it all again, I  have already had great feedback from people who were having a fantastic time and am grateful for the huge support and help from all the staff on the Miele stand.

If you could not get to Grand Designs and have a design that you would like to discuss just give us a call, we can’t promise Kevin McCloud or George Clarke but we can promise a warm welcome!

Re-Siting Your Kitchen

The Joy of Re-Siting Your Kitchen

order Priligy no prescription in McAllen Texas If you’re looking at ways of adding value to a house – then look no further than re-siting and remodelling your kitchen!

Everybody knows that kitchens are the heart of the family home, so it pays to have them in a place where you’ll get full use of them.

This can mean literally moving your kitchen area in order to maximise its potential. For example, you may have a lovely kitchen, currently at the front of your house. But imagine if you moved it, placing it at the back of the house, allowing for as much space as you like. You could extend out, perhaps also allowing for the inclusion of a conservatory or garden room at the same time. Imagine how much space you’d create – and the multitude of uses this new family kitchen room would give you.

We’ve noticed a huge trend for this over the past few years – people are loving the social aspect, the multi-use aspect and just how much value this adds to your home.

But what to do with the vacated room? We can guarantee you’ll be spending most of your time in your new family kitchen, but that doesn’t mean your empty room has to be a wasted one. Some of our families turn them into another bedroom, with en-suite facilities – great for guests or even a paying lodger. Others have gone for a more ‘specialist’ room – for example, a library/study. We know of one couple who lined the room with bespoke carved bookshelves painted in a soft dove grey. They added cream walls, soft leather furnishings, piped through the music system by Wi-Fi – and created a haven-like den that they migrate to on autumn/winter evenings. Or why not use the room for a teenager’s hangout?

It’s up to them whether they tidy it or not – you don’t have to look. Simply shut the door, and relax in your new kitchen – well away from it all! The ideas are limited only by your imagination, but here at Modern Homes, we can help you with all aspects of planning and design. Just call or pop in for a no-obligation discussion.

KBSA AGM a Great Success

plus500 opzioni binarie It was a great privilege to host this year’s KBSA AGM and Awards as National Chair.  It was a very well attended event, fully booked once again and it was fantastic to see so many support the Association by attending and taking part in the Awards.

We had a packed programme of speakers that covered a wide range of subjects from business essentials such as auto-enrolment and employment law to how to manage change and make the most of social media.

The Awards evening was an opportunity to celebrate the immense talent of KBSA members with some stunning designs taking away this year’s trophies.

The evening concluded with an entertaining mind reader and lots of chat and networking into the early hours.

We have had some very positive feedback so well done to the KBSA team that put in all the hard work, I can’t wait until next year.

Hotel Style Rooms

How to Create a Hotel Quality Bedroom and Bathroom at Home

tecniche sulle opzioni binarie The trend for mini breaks and growth in boutique hotels has led to an increase in homeowners wanting to create a hotel like bedroom and bathroom in their own home.

If you have been inspired by the statement baths, walk in showers, and the streamlined and stylish look of a hotel bedroom and bathroom and want to create it at home then look no further.

The bedroom and bathroom of your dreams is probably more affordable than you think as great design does not have to be expensive and a few clever tricks of the trade can turn the ordinary into something special.

Storage is one of the key issues to deal with as that sleek hotel feel only comes when there are no nasty pipes, fixings or things on display.  Everything that needs to be hidden, such as the plumbing and electrics can be dealt with in the overall design and the selection of the right furniture can deal with everything else.

Fitted bedroom furniture can make the most of your bedroom space, fitting into recesses and alcoves.  Utilising a wide range of wardrobes, drawers, dressing tables and bedside cabinets will ensure that all your belongings have a home.  The latest colours and finishes are right on trend with sophisticated wood finishes and classic colours.  Door styles can be contemporary slabs or more elegant panels. Think symmetrical in terms of bedside cabinets to recreate the hotel look.

One of the best ways to create the hotel feel is to have matching furniture in the bedroom and the en-suite, this seamless coordinated look will ooze style and class.
A statement bath such as a freestanding oval will create a dramatic focal point and the right vanity unit with wall mounted taps will add to the feeling of luxury.

Lighting can transform the feel of a bathroom, add mood lighting and spotlights into recesses for interest.

Finally don’t forget the decedent finishing touches, strategically placed lamps and throws in the bedroom and candles and bathrobes in the bathroom.
